Fogarty ARRA Administrative Supplements to Research Grants Providing Summer Research Experiences for Students and Science Educators

As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), FIC is soliciting one- and (if applicable) two-year administrative supplements to existing FIC R01 and U01 research grants and cooperative agreements for FY2009 and FY2010 to support summer research experiences for students and science educators. Support will be provided for mentored research training directly related to the grantee’s current FIC research grant activities.

  • No letter of intent is required. However, e-mail notification as soon as possible of your intention to submit an application including the name of the postdoctoral scientist to be supported and a brief description of the research topic would be helpful in setting up the administrative review of proposals. Submit to mcdermoj@mail.nih.gov.
  • Only one supplement application may be submitted by each FIC R01 and U01 grantee. Supplement applications may request for one or two years to support summer salary and research expenses for students and science educators as described in the NIH Notice
  • Only R01 and U01 grants to U.S. institutions can be supported with supplement funding.
  • Eligible FIC programs include:
    • International Cooperative Biodiversity Groups
    • Brain Disorders in the Developing World: Research Across the Lifespan
    • International Tobacco and Health Research and Capacity Building Program
    • Ecology of Infectious Diseases
