U.S. appropriations passed and signed into law by President Joseph Biden in late December provide budget increases for both NIH and Fogarty. NIH received $45.2 billion, with allocations to Fogarty totalling $95.2 million, a 9.5% rise—one of the largest year over year increases in the Center's history.
The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023, formally establishes ARPA-H, and allocates an additional $40 million for health impacts of climate change as well as funds for research related to identifying and reducing health disparities.
Fiscal Year 2023 began on Oct. 1, 2022.
