Fogarty supports scientific global health activities throughout Russia, Eurasia and the Arctic, including the following activities in Russia.

US-Russia Scientific Forum for Biomedical and Behavioral Research

As the premier biomedical and behavioral research agency, NIH leads U.S. government medical research collaboration with Russia. As part of this collaboration, NIH has signed a number of agreements with the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. These agreements are focused on expanding U.S.-Russia collaborations in biomedical and behavioral research, supporting clinical and translational research trainings and facilitating scientific exchanges.

US-Russia Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Public Health and Medical Science

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is the working partner on the Health Working Group of the U.S.-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission together with the Russian Ministry of Health and Social Development (MoHSD). As part of the bilateral commission, the DHHS and MoHSD signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on July 9, 2009 on expanding collaborations in public health and medical research. The MOU has three distinct components: maternal and child health, healthy lifestyles and medical research.
