Project Description

Even though young men who have sex with men (YMSM) in Vietnam are disproportionately affected by the HIV epidemic, HIV testing and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) uptake among this group are low. By adapting a mobile health (mHealth) intervention (app) developed in the United States for use by YMSM in Vietnam and exploring barriers to implementing the app, this study will provide critical guidance for the implementation of mHealth interventions for HIV prevention, not only in Vietnam but in other low-resource settings. This research holds great potential to improve HIV testing and PrEP use among YMSM and significantly contribute to the goal of ending the AIDS epidemic globally.
