Project Description
Uganda is currently scaling up proven malaria control interventions, but these efforts are not sufficient to adequately reduce the high malaria burden in the country, and resurgence after discontinuation of control measures has been experienced. These observations highlight an urgent need for continued research that informs optimal malaria interventions, and thus a necessity for the training of Ugandans to lead this research. Improved in-country expertise in epidemiology, translational research, and implementation science will be critical to assist the Ministry of Health in establishing effective policies for the better control and eventual elimination of malaria in Uganda.
