Project Description

HIV-infected individuals are at high risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), particularly early occurrence, due to frequent viral hepatitis co-infection. This project will hypothesize that immune-markers in blood related to the immune reaction of the body towards HCC can be used to identify HIV- infected individuals with early HCC. It will also aim to cross-sectionally and prospectively evaluate peripheral immune variations secondary to HCC in HIV-infected individuals as markers to predict early HCC development.
