Project Description

Due to extremely limited infrastructure and healthcare resources, motor and cognitive impairments in general and HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders in particular often go undiagnosed in people living with HIV and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in low- and middle-income countries. Novel and affordable technology-based strategies are needed to offer both evaluation and treatment. In collaboration with partners in Botswana, where the prevalence of both HIV and NCDs is high, we seek to determine the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of an innovative and affordable robot-assisted solution to objectively assess and diagnose motor and cognitive impairments after HIV and HIV-related stroke.
