Project Description

The research is of high public health relevance in Uganda and sub-Sahara Africa because infant screening for sickle cell disease (SCD) is a pillar to control childhood mortality due to this disease. A locally sustainable screening information management and communication system (SIMCS) is critical to achieve nationwide access to infant SCD screening. Therefore, this project is relevant to NIH mission to foster research innovations that improve health outcomes, health care services and health research including in low/middle income countries.
