Project Description
The Johns Hopkins University, Tanzania Red Cross Society, and Muhimbili University School of Public Health and Social Sciences Education and Mentoring Program On Surgical Work and Rehabilitation in Tanzania (EMPOWER-TZ) will strengthen research capacity to address surgery, rehabilitation, and humanitarian health in Tanzania, a middle-income country in east Africa where the burden of surgical problems among refugees are twice that of non-refugee populations.
The program will utilize long-, medium-, and short-term training opportunities to build capacity for implementation science research of surgery, rehabilitation, and humanitarian health, while simultaneously advancing leadership skills, a national dialogue on these key themes, and sustainable research capacity.
