GHEKSIO's clinics provide anti-retroviral therapy
(ART) and other treatments to HIV and AIDS patients
in Haiti.
GHESKIO (Groupe Haïtien d’Étude du Sarcome de Kaposi et des Infectieuses Opportunistes) is the 2010 winner of the prestigious Gates Award for Global Health, joining nine other elite global health organizations which have earned the honor in this tenth year of the award managed by the Global Health Council.
The announcement was made by Council President and CEO Jeffrey L. Sturchio and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius at an event organized at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.
