Fogarty awards combat chronic diseases

Fogarty is continuing efforts to tackle the growing epidemic of chronic diseases in the developing world, awarding seven new grants totaling about $6.8 million over five years to support research training in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and other non-communicable conditions.

NIH, Wellcome to fund genetic studies

NIH and the Wellcome Trust, a global charity based in London, have announced the Human Heredity and Health in Africa project, a partnership that will provide more than $37 million for genetic studies in Africa.

Research offers hope to combat HIV/AIDS

Research presented at this year’s International AIDS conference in Vienna offered new hope to those working on HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention. Fogarty grantees and trainees presented promising developments on topics that generated keen interest.

Informatics projects form networks
