NIH Operates Under a Continuing Resolution

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is operating under the Further Continuing Appropriations and Other Extensions Act, 2024 signed by President Biden on March 1, 2024. This continues government operations through March 22, 2024, at the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 enacted level, with no reduction in funding.

  • The Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise of IAS – the International AIDS Society has opened applications are open for the 2024 HIV Vaccine Science Academy. The academy awards fellowships to 15 early- to mid-career investigators and clinical scientists to take part in workshops on HIV vaccine research with international experts. The academy will take place in Rwanda, May 7-9, 2024. Selected participants will receive full travel support.

  • The Multimorbidity in Africa: Digital Innovation, Visualization, and Application (MADIVA) research hub is seeking to seed one pilot project to develop research applicants to inform individual and public health challenges in Africa through data science.

  • The Donald Krogstad Award for Early-Career Malian Scientists will provide funding of $25,000 US total for up to two years for scientists from Mali to pursue research in tropical medicine and/or public health with the goal of improving the lives of Malians. Available only to citizens of Mali currently living and working in Mali.

  • The Global Health Corps U.S. Fellowship application is now open. The GHC Fellowship in the U.S. identifies diverse, high-potential, emerging public health leaders and provides them with the leadership training, coaching, network, and resources to excel in their careers and advance health equity.

  • The 2nd International Paediatric HIV Symposium in Africa is accepting applications for its Implementation Science Research Grant program. Applicants should be early-career researchers who are nationals of a low- or middle-income country in Africa.

  • Halcyon House is now accepting applications for their Latin America & the Caribbean Climate Fellowship and Africa Climate Fellowship to drive climate impact with support from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Office of Global Partnerships at the U.S. State Department.

  • The Wellcome Trust (UK), Volkswagen Foundation (Germany) and Novo Nordisk Foundation (Denmark) have initiated a joint call to promote transdisciplinary approach to research on how mobility and health are interlinked, influencing the general health, various health determinants and the well-being of local and mobile populations, and how the effects of mobility could be addressed in a sustainable way.
