Special Announcements

NIA releases Notice of Special Interest on U.S. Health in the International Perspective

This NOSI expresses NIA’s interest in research that examines mechanisms and causes behind the increasing U.S. health disadvantage, which refers to worsening life expectancies and health outcomes in the U.S. compared to other countries. Applications proposing analysis of existing data collected in LMICs are welcomed, as LMICs often have greater variation and speed of change in their policy contexts compared to high-income countries.

Fogarty to host G11 Pre-Application Webinar

The Fogarty International Center will hold two free pre-application interactive Q&A webinars for the Fogarty Infrastructure Development Training Programs for Critical HIV Research at Low-and Middle-Income Country Institutions (G11) funding opportunity.

  • Halcyon House is now accepting applications for their Latin America & the Caribbean Climate Fellowship and Africa Climate Fellowship to drive climate impact with support from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Office of Global Partnerships at the U.S. State Department.

  • The Wellcome Trust (UK), Volkswagen Foundation (Germany) and Novo Nordisk Foundation (Denmark) have initiated a joint call to promote transdisciplinary approach to research on how mobility and health are interlinked, influencing the general health, various health determinants and the well-being of local and mobile populations, and how the effects of mobility could be addressed in a sustainable way.

  • The Point-of-Care Technologies for Nutrition, Infection, and Cancer for Global Health (PORTENT) Center is now accepting applications a global health funding opportunity for teams developing point of care diagnostic technologies based on our criteria and those who need support for clinical validation, commercialization or regulatory expertise, manufacturing, training, or technology development skills to bring their product to market.

  • The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Innovation, Technology, and Research Hub (ITR) is accepting applications for the Strategic Partnerships for Advancing Research and Knowledge (SPARK) award. SPARK will support research generation by bringing researchers in the U.S. and around the world together to study international development challenges and develop possible solutions.

  • The Cure Within Reach program is providing grants for clinical repurposing trials to underresourced researchers in low and lower middle income countries (LMICs) has released a new Request for Proposals (RFP) for projects in any unsolved disease and must repurpose an existing off-patent drug, off-patent device, nutraceutical and/or indigenous medicine in a new indication.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) hosts multiple webinars per year on public health topics. Most webinars are conducted in English and Spanish, others are also offered in Portuguese.


Manuscript, Abstract & Poster Submission Opportunities

  • Journal of Health and Pollution (JHP) is now accepting manuscript submissions. JHP is focused on research addressing environmental health issues in lower-resource areas with less-developed research infrastructures.
  • The Disaster Research Response (Dr2) Network hosted by NIEHS is inviting poster submissions for their upcoming workshop in Japan.

  • The E-Learning Ghana Conference (ELGC’24) is now accepting abstracts. This years conference, which will take place in Ghana, is themed "Fostering Excellence in E-Learning Across Diverse Disciplines: Progress, Challenges and Prospects". The conference aims to bring together a diverse group of educators to administrators, trainers, support staff, technology experts, policymakers, and investors all with a shared dedication to advancing E-Learning initiatives.
