Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) - Finds and funds disease-specific research with involvement in the review process from patients, survivors, family members or caregivers. Department of Defense HIV/AIDS Prevention Program (DHAP) - The Department of Defense HIV/AIDS Prevention Program's mission is to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS among uniformed personnel in selected African nations and beyond by assisting in developing and implementing military-specific HIV prevention programs; integrating with other US government, nongovernmental organizations, and United Nations programs; and supporting the mission of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

U.S. Military HIV Research Program works to protect U.S. troops from HIV infection and to reduce the global impact of the disease by developing a globally effective HIV-1 vaccine, and providing prevention, care and treatment through PEPFAR.

Health and Human Services (HHS)

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

CDC's Center for Global Health coordinates and manages the collective resources and expertise of the agency to address a variety of global health challenges such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, emergency and refugee health, non-communicable diseases, injuries, and other health threats. The CDC Global Health Strategy 2012 - 2015 outlines how CDC will leverage its core strengths to advance overarching global health goals.
CDC's Field Epidemiology (and Laboratory) Training Programs (FE(L)TP) are applied epidemiology programs to help foreign countries develop, set up and implement dynamic public health strategies to improve and strengthen their public health system and infrastructure.
The CDC Health Information for International Travel, or Yellow Book, is a trusted travel medicine desktop reference for both health professionals and travelers.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA): The Office of International Programs (OIP) advances the mission of the FDA and public health worldwide in partnership with other FDA components, other U.S. agencies, foreign governments and international organizations.
Health Resources and Services Administration's Global HIV/AIDS program works to address the international epidemic in such areas as HIV/AIDS training and building capacity of health systems.
HHS Office of Global Affairs: OGA's mission is to promote the health of the world's population by advancing the Secretary's and the Department of Health and Human Services' global strategies and partnerships, thus serving the health of the people of the United States.
US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps: The U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps is an elite team of more than 6,500 full-time, well-trained, highly qualified public health professionals dedicated to delivering the Nation's public health promotion and disease prevention programs and advancing public health science.

President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)

PEPFAR is the U.S. Government initiative to help save the lives of those suffering from HIV/AIDS around the world.

President's Malaria Initiative (PMI)

PMI is the U.S. government's initiative to reduce the intolerable burden of malaria and help relieve poverty on the African continent.

State Department

The Office of Global Health Diplomacy guides diplomatic efforts to advance the U.S. global health mission to improve and save lives and foster sustainability through a shared global responsibility.
The Office of International Health and Biodefense (IHB) works with agencies throughout the U.S. Government to facilitate policy making regarding environmental health, infectious diseases (e.g., SARS, Avian Influenza, Pandemic Influenza, Polio), health in post-conflict situations, surveillance and response, and health security.
The Biosecurity Engagement Program supports training in biosafety, biosecurity and infectious diseases, in addition to providing strategic support for projects that address biosecurity goals. Training support and strategic support grants are available.

United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

USAID programs in global health represent the commitment and determination of the United States Government to prevent suffering, save lives, and create a brighter future for families in the developing world.
