Project Description
The Addis Ababa University-Johns Hopkins University Research Ethics Training Program (AAU-JHU RETP) seeks to build and sustain research ethics capacity in Ethiopia through a range of activities that address individual, institutional and national priorities. Building on past successes and recognizing emerging needs, over the next five years the AAU-JHU RETP will strengthen and expand the only research ethics Master’s program in Ethiopia; develop a new Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in research ethics that caters to the needs of working professionals and complements other shorter-term training opportunities; increase the number and capacity of bioethics teaching faculty at AAU; promote institutionalization of research ethics at AAU and with partner institutions across Ethiopia; and support further development of strong national platforms for research ethics coordination and engagement.
