Project Description
With its high infectious disease burden and vast populations of treatment naïve patients, Southern Africa is a highly sought after venue for collaborative global health research involving human participants. However, such research raises a host of ethical concerns and leadership in bioethics that helps ensure context-sensitive, ethical conduct and regulation of research in the region remains incomplete and under-developed. This doctoral-level program will contribute to public health by developing a sustainable critical mass of bioethics scholars in LMIC research intensive institutions with the capability to conduct original empirical or conceptual ethics research to address the challenging health research and research policy issues in these countries.
