Project Description

The UEM Collaborative Research Ethics Education Program or Formação Colaborativa em Ética na Pesquisa (FoCEP), was first funded in 2014. The partnership of Tulane University, University of Texas Southwestern (UT Southwestern), and University Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) aim to continue building upon the activities established to date for research ethics education at UEM through activities designed to strengthen a new Master’s in Bioethics and Human Values. Furthermore, based on lessons learned over our 10-years of work in Mozambique, this project will expand our capacity building efforts to activities that will inform actions towards the introduction of research ethics education within a network of PALOP (Países Africanos de Língua Oficial Portuguesa) country academic health sciences institutions (Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, and São Tomé and Príncipe).
