Project Description

The increasing global number of pediatric tuberculosis (TB) survivors underscores the urgent need for innovative diagnostic and monitoring tools to address post-TB lung disease (PTLD). This project aims to refine and validate artificial intelligence (AI)-powered radiological scoring tools and integrate them with longitudinal cohort data to characterize respiratory health trajectories, identify predictors of long-term impairment, and improve clinical care strategies for pediatric TB survivors.

This research will help advance global health by addressing critical gaps in pediatric post-TB care as well as provide advanced training to Dr. Esin Nkereuwem, equipping him with the expertise and tools necessary to develop an independently funded research program focused on pediatric TB and respiratory health in Africa.
