Project Description
The primary focus of the research is air pollution, with sub-studies focused on exposure assessment and air pollution impacts on lung function, blood pressure, and cognitive development, as well as a study focused on occupational heat stress. The research will take place at three leading universities in East Africa: Addis Ababa University in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda; and University of Nairobi in Nairobi, Kenya.
The portfolio of studies in the research solidifies and expands work begun in the first funding cycle of the Eastern Africa GEOHealth Hub, and will provide excellent opportunities for the trainees at each institution, as described in the linked GEOHealth Research Training proposal.
