Project Description
The prevalence of HIV infection among citizens in the United Republic of Tanzania is 4.5%, representing a public health challenge of significant magnitude. HIV infection is frequently accompanied by dental and oropharyngeal complications, which are relatively understudied in low- and middle-income countries. This Planning Grant, led by Kairuki University in collaboration with partnering universities and key stakeholders, will assess the needs and opportunities to develop a training grant application to build a research team capable of addressing the gaps in knowledge and improve the health of Tanzanian persons living with HIV infection.
