Special Announcements

Update to Fogarty International Training Grants

After December 5, 2026, Fogarty will no longer support research training and career development applications from South Africa. Currently, Fogarty is continuing to fund all grants to South Africa, including training programs. Since 2012, Fogarty research training and foreign career development awards have excluded most upper-middle income countries (UMICs) that are also members of the G20. (The 2026 list of G20 UMICs includes Argentina, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa, and Turkey.) That said, G20 UMICs can partner in Fogarty research training programs where the goal is to train scientists from eligible low- and middle- income countries (LMIC) and to build research capacity at LMIC institutions.
