NIH Director Dr. Francis S. Collins welcomed philanthropist Bill Gates to campus on April 18 for the third annual NIH-Gates Foundation meeting. Discussion topics included the Zika virus, neurodevelopment and neonatal health, HIV prevention and other issues of mutual interest.

The collaboration grew from conversations that occurred during Gates’s visit to NIH in 2013 to deliver the annual David E. Barmes Lecture in Global Health. There are now nine working groups staffed with representatives from both organizations.
