  • The Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University hosts the Syllabus Exchange Database, which has hundreds of syllabi in various areas of ethics, including research ethics. Select Bioethics Syllabi from the drop down menu.

Courses

  • The Advanced Certificate Program in Research Ethics for Central and Eastern Europe, a collaboration of Union Graduate College (USA) and Vilnius University (Lithuania) has its course materials online for International Bioethics, International Research Ethics 1, and International Research Ethics 2. The course overview and weekly syllabi for International Bioethics and International Research Ethics 1 are available in Romanian-Moldovan.

U.S. Government Online Training Programs and Resources

  • NIH Research Ethics Training: Introduction to the Responsible Conduct of Research focuses on professional ethics for medical researchers. This short training course is required for new NIH scientific staff members. People outside NIH can browse the course.
  • NIH Office of Extramural Research: Protecting Human Research Participants is a three-hour online course available in English and Spanish. Anyone can register. Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit is available for successfully completing the course.
  • Clinical Center Department of Bioethics at NIH: Offers bioethics courses, lectures and trainings, including the online course Ethical and Regulatory Aspects of Clinical Research.
  • Ethics Grand Rounds from the Department of Bioethics at NIH.
  • CDC and ATSDR Ethics Program Activity: An online resource center from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) containing ethics-related publications, frequently asked questions about research ethics, links to ethics regulations, and two versions of an ethics training course. The CDC website is also offered in Spanish.
  • The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP): Human Subject Assurance Training is an online training for Institutional Officials, Human Protections Administrators, and IRB Chairs for institutions applying for a Federal Wide Assurance (FWA).
